Membership Terms

These terms apply to paid membership of the African Coaches League (“ACL”). They sit alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If they differ, these Membership Terms apply to your membership.

Membership is for coaches and coaching professionals. To join you must:

• create an ACL account with accurate personal and professional details;
• complete your coach profile;
• agree to these terms, the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

ACL may decline or withdraw membership if the information given is false or misleading.

ACL offers membership plans. The price, currency, length, any joining fee and the benefits of each plan are shown on the Membership page and again before you pay, and those details apply to the plan you choose.

Payments are made online through our payment providers, Paystack or Flutterwave. Your membership starts only once the payment has been confirmed. Until then it shows as awaiting or processing payment. When a payment succeeds you can see it, and download a receipt, under Account → Membership.

If your payment goes through but your membership does not activate, contact us with your payment reference and we will resolve it.

Active membership gives you the member benefits listed on your plan, which can include:

• a unique membership number and a digital Coach Passport that others can verify;
• access to the member directory, mentorship network, messaging and announcements;
• access to members-only opportunities, programmes and events;
• submitting credentials for verification.

Some programmes and events may have their own requirements or fees, which are stated on their pages. We may improve or change member features over time.

Membership lasts for the period of the plan you bought and ends on the expiry date shown on your Coach Passport and Membership page. Memberships are not renewed automatically and we will not charge you again unless you choose to renew.

You can renew from your Membership page where the plan allows it. Renewing before expiry extends your membership; renewing after it lapses starts a new period.

When membership ends:

• members-only areas, such as opportunities, programmes, events, directory, mentorship and messaging, are closed to you until you renew;
• you no longer appear in the member directory or mentor search;
• your Coach Passport and verification page show that the membership is not active;
• your account, profile, credentials and records are kept, so you can renew and carry on.

If you think you were charged in error, were charged twice, or your membership was not activated, contact us within a reasonable time with your payment reference and we will review it and tell you the outcome. Where we agree a refund is due, it is returned through the original payment method, and the time it takes depends on your bank or payment provider. Nothing in these terms limits any refund right you have under the law where you live.

Members are expected to behave professionally and honestly, to keep their credentials and profile accurate and to respect other members. Conduct that breaks our Terms of Use, such as false qualifications, harassment or misuse of member information, may lead to action under the section below.

ACL may suspend or end a membership if these terms or the Terms of Use are broken, if information given proves to be false, or if payment is reversed or disputed. While a membership is suspended, member benefits are unavailable.

Where we reasonably can, we will tell you the reason and give you a chance to respond. You can ask to end your membership at any time by contacting us; unless a refund is agreed under the section above, the remaining period is not refunded.

Your membership number and Coach Passport are personal to you. Do not let anyone else use them. The public verification page confirms membership and verification status only. Having a Coach Passport or a verified status is a record of ACL membership and checked documents; it is not a licence to coach and does not replace any qualification or registration required by a federation, employer or law.

We may update these terms and will show the date at the top. Changes do not alter a plan you have already paid for during its current period unless the law requires it, but they apply when you renew or buy a new plan.
